Our Food & Beverage department is thriving and growing, with a team of passionate culinarians who combine our devotion for the details and unbridled creativity with a commitment to our guests in delivering experiences worth celebrating. As such, we are seeking a Director, Food & Beverage with well-developed leadership skills and a vision to position the Edmonton EXPO Centre to deliver industry leading food quality, service and guest experience.

 

As part of the Leadership Team, the Director, Food and Beverage will assist in the development and elevation of the long-term vision and goals of the venue to grow revenues and create one of North America’s top performing venues.

Job Details

 

The Director of Food & Beverage oversees the Culinary team, Retail Food Services, Banquets and Bars departments and Purchasing, ensuring efficient workflows, resulting in high quality products and service to meet the Edmonton EXPO Centre’s Brand Promise.  This position is also responsible for building and coaching high-performance teams while meeting financial targets and working within industry best-practice systems and performance metrics.

 

The Director of Food & Beverage will be accountable for:

  • Achieving the Food and Beverage departments annual business goals, cost containment and revenue growth;
  • The smooth and efficient workflow among procurement, inventory food preparation and service teams to consistently achieve customer service target ratings;
  • Strategic planning, targets, analysis, progress tracking and reporting on departmental quarterly goals and objectives;
  • Working closely with direct reports to grow and develop strong departmental leadership;
  • Developing and implementing plans to achieve net new revenue targets;
  • Ensuring the Edmonton EXPO Centre’s service, safety, sustainability, productivity and community support brand standards are maintained to the highest quality; and
  • Modeling and promoting Edmonton Economic Development Corporation’s values

 

The ideal candidate for this role will have post-secondary education in hospitality, food service, business administration or management, with five (5) years progressive food and beverage management experience in public facing organizations.

 

In addition, this individual will have extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in food, beverage, and service sectors; demonstrated success in building and managing high-performance, diverse teams; knowledge of product and labour cost control, purchasing ordering, supplier/vendor management and contract negotiations; experience in operational financial management, analysis, accountability and budgeting; and high volume staff scheduling experience. Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office, POS and CRM systems would be considered an asset.

 

The successful candidate must have or be eligible to receive ProServe certification, and a criminal background check will be required upon hire.
