Edmonton, Alberta, Canada – Edmonton Economic Development Corporation (EEDC) is proud to announce the appointment of a new Board Chair, Joseph Doucet, as well as five new board members effective July, 2019. The new board members include Paul Alpern, Matthew Havertape, Alyson Hodson, Karen Oshry, and Catherine Vu.

Joseph Doucet, Dean, Alberta School of Business, University of Alberta. He has held faculty or visiting appointments at Université Laval, the University of Florida, and Université Montpellier (France). He earned his PhD from the University of California, Berkeley and his research and teaching interests include energy markets and regulation.
Paul Alpern, Senior Vice President & General Counsel at Stantec, a 22,000 person global professional services firm of designers, engineers, architects, scientists and project managers. Prior to joining Stantec in 1998, Paul was in private legal practice focusing on employment and labour law and general civil litigation.
Matthew Havertape, Vice President, Finance and IT with The Little Potato Company, a privately-held family-values based company dedicated to serving nutritious, convenient and delicious creamer potatoes. Matthew began his career with PwC in Minneapolis, Minnesota and gained multinational experience in the United States, Europe, and Canada.
Alyson Hodson, President & CEO of Zag Creative, an Edmonton-based strategic marketing firm that develops award-winning marketing strategies for clients across Canada and the United States. She is a community champion and is past Director of the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce Board, past Chair of the Board for the Downtown Business Association, and is currently the President of the Make-A-Wish Northern Alberta Board.
Karen Oshry, Owner and Manager of Oshry & Company, a law firm that focuses on business and commercial real estate and transactions, providing legal services to individuals, small and medium sized businesses as well as institutional clients. Karen is committed to advocating for business and growth in the City of Edmonton.
Catherine Vu, Owner of Pro-Active IT Management Inc., a company that provides businesses with the right tools and solutions for what IT requirements they have. She is passionate about giving back to her community and is proud to be one of 22 founding mentors of the University of Alberta Venture Mentoring Services (UA VMS) program which now has 90+ mentors.
