The joy of working for free
One thing that distinguishes Edmonton as Festival City is the vast community of people who run the City’s festivals on a volunteer basis, averaging 12 000 volunteers who give 154 000 hours. Professionals, students, artists and community leaders work side-by-side to run our festivals. Many use their vacations to volunteer at festivals, wait for years to get on coveted crews and list festival board memberships on their professional resumes.
