Edmonton — The new Destination Activation (DA) initiative is led by Edmonton Tourism in collaboration with industry partners, and will make it easy for organizations to help bring major Edmonton events to life with a series of décor packages, activities, event information and other resources all available through the Paint the Town program.
The driving force behind Destination Activation is building the Edmonton spirit by welcoming visitors and engaging locals into the excitement of each event. In support of this goal, Edmonton Tourism is working closely with DA partners including the City of Edmonton, Edmonton Destination Marketing Hotels, the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce, Edmonton International Airport, Old Strathcona Business Association, the Government of Alberta through Tourism, Parks and Recreation, and Travel Alberta.
“With so many major events coming into Edmonton, we want to make sure that everyone gets swept up in the excitement. There are so many ways for organizations to participate, and whether you want to put a sign in your window or hold a street party, Edmonton Tourism and the Paint the Town program are going to help you become part of the action,” says Maggie Davison, Edmonton Tourism vice president.
Working together to differentiate Edmonton as a city that fully embraces the excitement around major events, Destination Activation will activate Canadian Finals Rodeo, FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup Canada 2014, Transcanada Corp. World Triathlon Grand Final Edmonton, Canadian Country Music Association Awards, Tour of Alberta, and events in support of the Wintercity Strategy. As the lead for Destination Activation, Edmonton Tourism facilitates engagement in the community so organizers can focus on executing a spectacular event.
Getting involved in activation efforts is easy! Being a proud host can be as simple as purchasing a series of décor options, or leveraging Edmonton Tourism online resources to create your own activities.
