A task force of Edmonton volunteers came together in 2012 to champion the businesses, the projects and the ideas of their fellow Edmontonians in an attempt to strengthen our city’s entrepreneurial and economic reputation both within the region and outside it.
They named it Make Something Edmonton, and with support and mentorship offered to everyone who came asking, the leaders behind this initiative challenged those with an idea to just go out and do it. To make their community project, their business startup, their festival or event happen with the tools, resources and know-how available to them. Make Something Edmonton became a place to inspire, collect and celebrate new projects. It still is today.
As of January 1, 2014, Edmonton Economic Development is proud to steward the Make Something Edmonton Initiative, continuing this grassroots organization’s mandate to make Edmonton a hub for building, creating, changing, for making something. An advisory board will soon be established to ensure connectivity with the vibrant creative and entrepreneurial communities and to keep the spirit of the program alive.
